HOW N.A.L.M.S. FEATURE PROVISIONALS WORK

All members who are eligible, or who are willing and able to accept a provisional and compete in the feature must compete in the heat race and last chance races. The only exception is if the Tech Inspector is contacted PRIOR to the last chance race and the Tech Inspector deems the car not safe at that time, or time is not sufficient to make repairs before the last chance race is to be ran. You must make the effort to participate in the last chance race to be eligible for a provisional spot in the feature event.

A maximum of two (2) provisional starters will be allowed in any main feature. Provisional starters will be the highest points scorers from the championship table who have not qualified for the main feature. The provisional starters will always start on the last row of the grid. If two (2) of the provisional are tied in points, the provisional will be awarded to the highest finisher in the last chance race.

In the event that one or both of the N.A.L.M.S point provisional starting positions are not used, (this situation will only occur if all members have qualified for the feature through the heats or last chance races.) The next to transfer from the last chance race or races will fill the provisional positions not being used to fill the designated car count. If one position is open, the 1st position will be filled from the 1st last chance race. If two last chance races are ran and two positions are open, then one from each last chance race will be transferred.

All N.A.L.M.S. drivers will be eligible for provisional starts according to highest to lowest in N.A.L.M.S. points. Provisional starts for the 1st race will be based off of the previous year point standings. Promoter may start extra race cars in the feature event at the promoters expense and such race cars will start at the tail of the field.

NOTE: Driver or car changes can only be made before qualifying to be eligible for points or contingency awards. When a car or driver change occurs after qualifying the car entered, points will be awarded up to the time of change only. Anytime a driver or car change has been made, that driver will start on the tail of the next event they are eligible for. 2. Driver, Owner or team representative MUST come to the N.A.L.M.S. trailer to pay car entry fee and pull pill for time trial qualifying order IMMEDIATELY UPON ARRIVAL IN THE PIT AREA. NO Driver, Owner or team representative will be allowed to pull pill after the driver meeting has started. 3. Entered cars will hot lap by time trial qualifying order.
EXAMPLE: First ten (10) cars in time trial qualifying order will hot lap followed by eleven (11) through twenty (20), twenty-one (21) through thirty (30) and thirty-one (31) through forty (40) and so on in time trial qualifying order. If driver misses their hot lap group, they will not be permitted to hot lap.
  4. Driver MUST qualify in order. If driver misses their time trial qualifying spot for whatever reason, driver will receive one lap only to qualify, IF you are within your assigned group. If you miss your group entirely, you will start at the tail of your heat race.
NOTE: It is the driver's responsibility to be in their qualifying spot on time! Your qualifying group will be your heat race. When qualifying is not possible, due to extreme circumstances, your pill draw for qualifying groups will be used for your heat race lineup.
  5. All entered drivers will compete in a heat race. Heat races will start straight up based on the groups qualifying times. Heat races will not be inverted.
EXAMPLE: The driver with the fastest qualifying time for a particular group will start on the pole position for the group's heat race. The driver with the 2nd fastest time will start outside the pole position for that group's heat race and so forth. Number of laps for the heat races and the number of transfers from heat races to the feature event depend on number of heat races scheduled. Number(s) determined by the N.A.L.M.S. Race Director.
  6. The winner of each heat will redraw for the feature lineup.
NOTE: Lowest number drawn will start of the pole position. Drivers transferring from the heat races to the feature event, but not drawing for position, will line up but the heat race finish.
  7. Remainder of drivers not transferring to feature event through heat races will compete in "B" Main(s). "B" Main(s) will be lined straight up by heat race finish. Number of laps and number of transfers from "B" Main(s) to feature dependent on number of "B" Main(s) scheduled. Number(s) determined by N.A.L.M.S. Race Director. If over 16 cars are to compete in the last chance race there will be two races ran. If two last chance races are ran, the laps will be reduced to a maximum of 10 laps.

All feature events not raced past the halfway point will be completed at a later date in possible or practical according to the schedule of N.A.L.M.S. or the promoter. Any and all races not complete that have been decided to cancel the remaining laps will be complete and finish results will be as the lineup for the restart, NOT the last completed scored lap.

  9. RED FLAG PERIODS: Bring your car to a stop as quickly and as safely as possible. DO NOT drive past accident site if at all possible.
